Sometimes the number of unwanted text messages and spams get as much annoying that you prefer to just leave your phone and you may miss important message meanwhile. The Spam Filter feature on the Galaxy S5, let you Block unwanted text messages and get rid of Spam messages without even noticing them. Do as follows to setup the spam filters:
1. Open Messaging app
2. Tap the 3dot icon and go to the Settings.
3. Scroll down, open the "Spam Filter" option and make sure it is enabled
4. Tap the "Add to spam numbers" options, tap the Add icon and starting adding Phone Numbers or Contacts to your spam list
5. You can also use the Match Criteria option and send the messages sent from a phone number starts with specific digits, right to the spam box
It seems that some carriers have disabled the Spam Filter option on the Galaxy S5. So, if your device lacks the spam filter option, the only way to filter spam messages on Galaxy S5 is using alternative messaging applications, like GO SMS Pro.

@Guest Only way I can do this on my Verizon account is to go online to my account and block the numbers from there. They are only blocked for 90 days, then I have to remember to block those numbers again. Also, I can only block 5 numbers at a time, I think. I have a Galaxy S5- Verizon
We tested on a unlocked variant and the option was just where we told in the tip. If you don't have that option, probably your carrier has disabled it.
There is no Spam filter option
For s5, you dont need an app. Pull down the Settings menu, go to bottom, Applications, select Messages, 3rd option from bottom is Spam filter. Open that and choose your settings.
I followed all your steps. Except at the end. There is NO choice for Spam. It's not there. Some people posting have said it's something Verizon did with the phone. Removed that option. But that seems odd. Maybe they want us to use their messaging app?
Thanks for trying to help me.
Hi. Try using alternative apps like GO SMS Pro
Is it a locked phone? If so, maybe your carrier has disabled this option.
