Well, the title speaks for itself. You can now preorder feature films right from the Google Play Store and be the first to watch that very film as soon as its digital copy gets available.

The idea is pretty simple and the process to preorder is simpler. You just need to select the title to preorder, use a credit card, a gift card (or any other payment method) to confirm the payment, and wait for the movie to get available and enjoy watching your movie. Note that your card won’t be charged before the movie gets delivered and you will be notified via an Email when your purchase is done and the movie is added to your My Movies library.

At the moment this service is a U.S. only service, but Google has promised more countries will be able to preorder movies in the feature.

List-of-Available-Titles-For-Preorder

For now, 15 titles, including 22 Jump Street, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Gu ardians of the Galaxy, are available to preorder and you can get an expected release time as you go to the movie’s detail page.

In overall, I really don’t get why this service should be exciting as digital copies are not something to get out of inventory if demands get high, and also you don’t get any discount or any special feature if you preorder a movie instead of just buying it when available. The only thing I can think of as an up-side, is that you don’t have to repeatedly check whether your favorite movie is available to purchase or not, as you’ll be notified about the availability as soon as the digital copy is ready to be released.
