The Android world has reached to a point where a 4.5-inch phone is considered as a Mini device regardless of the fact that it is 0.5-inch bigger than the iPhone’s biggest version. According to the latest reliable rumors the mini version of Samsung’s latest and somehow the best flagship, Galaxy S5, is featuring a 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Based on a leaked Antutu benchmark and CPU-Z, we should expect the following specifications for the Galaxy S5 Mini:
- 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display
- Samsung Exynos 3 Quad (Exynos 3470) clocked 1.4GHz
- 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of Internal Memory, MicroSD card support
- 8MP / 2.1MP Main and Rear cameras, Full HD 1080p Video Recording
- LTE-Enabled, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IR Blaster, NFC
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- Water proof and Dust proof, IP67 certified
Galaxy S5 Mini uses the same design language as its bigger and more-qualified brother (No surprise), and the only noticeable thing is that although the source claims the S5 Mini has the IP67 certified but Samsung has managed to remove the USB flap cover without sacrificing the being water-proof feature.
The latest Android’s version (actually the one before the latest as 4.4.3 has already hit GPE and Nexus devices), Android 4.4.2 KitKat, is pre-installed on the Galaxy S5 Mini and like always you should expect tons of features thanks to the redesigned TouchWiz UX launcher.
Other than the look and design, the S5 Mini also inherits some of the great features of Galaxy S5 including the fingerprint scanner and heart rate sensor.
About the Galaxy S5 Mini Price and Availability, there is nothing confirmed yet but since Samsung is preparing a launch event for its new tablet series, Galaxy Tab S, on June 12, the Korean OEM may take advantage of the event and announce the Galaxy S5 Mini at that time.
Like always, we’ll get you up to speed as soon as any confirmed news surface the web.
