By default, file extensions for known files are hidden in Windows 10 and just unknown files are shown completely (file name + extension). To hide / show file extensions in Windows 10, do as follows:
1. Open File Explorer on your PC or laptop or windows tablet
2. Go to the View tab and then click the Options on the right side of the top menu
3. Folder Option settings is opened
4. Go to the View tab and under the Advanced Settings, Look for this option: Hide extensions for known file types and make sure it is unchecked. (It's under the Hidden files and folders options)
