Elva review: AI workspace for dental practices

Elva is AI software for dental practices. It takes on front-office and insurance work: it answers phone calls, verifies coverage before visits, prepares and follows up claims, sends recall and reminders, and handles patient texts, email and forms. Rather than replacing your practice management system (PMS), Elva runs alongside it and writes results back, with Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon and CareStack among the systems the site names. Prices aren’t published: you book a demo with Elva’s sales team.

Quick verdict

Elva suits a practice or group that wants one system to cover calls, insurance checks, claims and patient messages, instead of separate tools for each, and that already runs one of the supported practice systems. For the insurance and claims work, Elva’s team does the setup: the site says there’s no self-serve setup, and before go-live the team reviews your claim history and payer rules and sets up portal access. The main limits for a buyer are that you can’t see a price without a sales call, the iPhone app is new and has no App Store ratings yet, and the results on the home page are Elva’s own figures with no method given. If you want to compare costs on paper first, or set up a tool yourself, plan for a demo before you can judge it.

Features

These come from the home, integrations, insurance, solutions and app pages on elva.ai, and from the App Store listing.

  • AI receptionist: the site says Elva answers every call, day or night, in 30+ languages, books appointments into the schedule, verifies insurance, recognizes emergencies and hands anything that needs a person to your team.
  • Insurance verification: maximums, deductibles and frequency limits by code are checked before each visit and synced to your PMS. The site says Elva checks several sources and shows the source behind each fact, and that your team handles what Elva couldn’t finish.
  • Claims and revenue cycle: the site says claims are prepared with codes and attachments, with missing items flagged before they go out. Elva also follows up unpaid claims by portal and phone, appeals denials, posts insurance payments, reads paper EOBs and matches insurance payments to bank deposits.
  • Patient communication: the site lists appointment reminders by text, email or call, recall outreach, two-way texting in the patient’s language, automated replies to routine patient email, online booking and digital intake forms that sync to the PMS.
  • Google reviews: patients are asked for a Google review after a visit, and unhappy feedback goes to your team privately first.
  • Check-in kiosk: an iPad or iPhone check-in that marks the patient as arrived in the PMS, collects missing forms, reads a new insurance card from a photo and runs eligibility on the spot.
  • Chairside (iPad): listens to the visit and drafts the clinical note, charts the exam by voice and turns the treatment plan into a patient-friendly estimate of coverage and out-of-pocket cost.
  • Ask Elva: plain-language questions about your practice data, such as what a patient owes or last week’s production, answered from your PMS.
  • For groups: the DSO page lists cross-office analytics, approval rules set per decision and per location, a timestamped log of every action, and self-hosted or private-cloud deployment.
  • Security claims: the integrations page says data is encrypted in transit and at rest, the infrastructure is built to HIPAA’s safeguards, a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available for every practice, and access is role-based with a full audit trail. These are Elva’s statements; we didn’t check them.

Plans and pricing

Elva doesn’t publish prices or plans, and we didn’t find a pricing page on the site. The ways in are a demo through “Book a Demo” or “Contact Sales”, and a “Free AI Readiness Consultation” offered across the site. The contact page describes a 30-minute walkthrough of your workflows, with answers on PMS compatibility, onboarding and data migration, and a revenue impact estimate based on your practice size and number of locations, with no commitment for the demo itself. If it fits, the home page says, Elva builds a trial shaped around your practice size. The site doesn’t list contract length or setup fees, so ask about both, and about the trial terms, on the call.

The home page shows results such as “$80k+ recovered revenue / yr”, “32+ hrs reclaimed / wk” and “90% of admin tasks automated”. These are Elva’s own figures, and the page doesn’t say how they were measured, so treat them as claims to test against your own numbers in the demo.

Practice system integration

Elva works on top of your PMS rather than replacing it. The integrations page says Elva reads from and writes back to the PMS as things happen: bookings go into the PMS calendar when confirmed, eligibility results post to the patient’s record before the visit, payments post to the ledger where the system supports it (or come up for manual entry where it doesn’t), and signed clinical notes sync to the clinical record.

  • Named systems: Open Dental (Elva says it’s an Authorized API Partner), Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Curve, Eaglesoft, Denticon and CareStack.
  • Other systems: the page asks practices on a system that isn’t listed to get in touch, and says new PMS support “ships in days, not months”. If you run a different system, confirm support before you commit.

Mobile apps

Elva’s iPhone app, Elva – Dental Office Assistant, is free to download but needs an Elva account. Version 1.1 came out on September 3, 2026, and it needs iOS 16.0 or later. With no ratings or written reviews on the App Store yet, there’s no user feedback to report. Its listing describes a 5-minute morning brief with production and goals, voice questions such as “What’s our outstanding A/R right now?”, one inbox for patient texts and emails with built-in translation, and a schedule that syncs with Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft and Open Dental. According to the listing, personal and health details are removed before any request goes to a third-party AI model, and Elva flags urgent messages but doesn’t make clinical decisions.

Elva has two more apps on the App Store, both free to download and both without ratings or written reviews so far:

  • Elva Chairside – Dental Notes (version 1.1, released September 3, 2026, iOS 16.0 or later): the listing describes an iPad app that listens to the visit and drafts a structured clinical note for you to review and sign, charts the exam by voice, explains treatment plans with insurance coverage and out-of-pocket cost, and flags medical-history items for a clinician to check. It says nothing is final until you sign, and that flags are never a diagnosis or a decision.
  • Elva Kiosk – Patient Check-In (version 2.1, updated October 3, 2026, first released September 3, 2026, iOS 15.5 or later): the listing describes a self-service check-in with a 4-digit code sent by text, missing forms signed on the spot, a profile photo, insurance card scanning and a status update on the office dashboard. It says the screen resets after each check-in and nothing is stored locally on the iPad.

The site’s comparison page describes a native iOS and Android app, but we didn’t find an Elva app on Google Play when we checked. The site says the kiosk runs on iPad and iPhone.

Who it’s for

A good fit if:

  • Your practice runs Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon or CareStack and you want to keep it.
  • Your front desk is stretched by calls, insurance checks and claim follow-up, and you’d rather have one system for all of it than separate tools.
  • You run several locations or a DSO and need approval rules per location, an action log and the option of self-hosted deployment.
  • You’d rather have the vendor’s team set up the insurance and claims work than configure it yourself.

Look elsewhere if:

  • You need to see prices before you talk to sales.
  • You want to sign up online and start the same day: Elva starts with a demo.
  • Your practice system isn’t on Elva’s list and you can’t wait for support to be added. Even on a listed system, confirm what’s supported in the demo, because the pages don’t all name the same systems.
  • Your team mainly works on Android phones: we found only an iPhone app.

FAQ

How much does Elva cost?

Elva doesn’t publish prices. You book a 30-minute demo through the contact page, and the site says you get a revenue impact estimate based on your practice size and number of locations. The home page says a trial is built around your practice if it fits; ask about trial terms, contract length and setup fees on that call.

Does Elva replace my practice management system?

No. Elva runs alongside your PMS and writes appointments, eligibility results, payments and clinical notes back to it. The site names Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon and CareStack.

Is Elva HIPAA compliant?

Elva says its infrastructure is built to HIPAA’s safeguards, that data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and that a Business Associate Agreement is available for every practice. These are the vendor’s statements, so ask for the BAA and any security documents during the sales process.

Does Elva have a mobile app?

Yes, three on the App Store: Elva – Dental Office Assistant for iPhone (needs an Elva account), Elva Chairside – Dental Notes for clinical notes on iPad, and Elva Kiosk – Patient Check-In. All three are free to download and have no App Store ratings yet. We didn’t find an Android app on Google Play when we checked.

How this review was put together

We did not test Elva. This review is based on public information from official sources: the vendor’s own website (its features, pricing and policy pages) and, where the product has mobile apps, its Google Play and App Store listings, ratings and user reviews. Features, prices and claims are the vendor’s own descriptions; what users like and dislike comes from store reviews, when there are any. Everything was checked on October 21, 2026. Prices and features change, so check the vendor’s site before you buy.
